WASA: Beyond the 50/50 ideal: Gender, Political Culture, and University Transformation

We are delighted to announce that WASA will be having a roundtable on the 9th of August, guided by the theme: “Beyond the 50/50 ideal: Gender, Political Culture, and University Transformation”.

The roundtable has two main objectives:

1.       To bring intellectual scrutiny to the question of gender transformation within higher education by posing questions on:

o   The extent to which race subsumes gender in the narrative of transformation,

o   The extent to which matters of governance impede or enable gender transformation

o   The extent to which the intellectual and scholarly engagement on gender in society remains relevant in informing the transformation agenda.

2.      To contribute to broader public debates on gender as a core organising principle in the broader political landscape.
